The Mera Tiernahrung GmbH from Kevelaer planned a production extension. At the end of the two new production lines, the cartons should automatically be packed on pallets. Project Automation & Engineering conceived and implemented a convincing solution.
The PROPAL palletizing robot had to be designed for a payload of up to 80 kilograms. To grasp the cardboard, a surface suction plate is the most suitable. Additionally, people also work near the robot, special attention had to be paid to the required work safety.
The Project Automation & Engineering system is designed for eight cartons per minute - more would be possible. It basically consists of a PROPAL palletizing robot, six PROCON roller conveyors for product transport, an empty pallet and interlayer storage. The universal suction gripper head on the robot can handle the goods, the pallet and as well the intermediate layers. This results in unbelievable time savings when converting - only the right recipe, which can be found in the menu in a user-friendly way, must be selected for the next product. For worker safety, protective grids were installed in the area of the palletizing robot.
Project Automation & Engineering's performance includes complete coordination from proposal preparation to hand-over of the machines. Likewise, the coordination of the interfaces with the suppliers of the contiguous plant components, the preparation of a standardized and complete documentation, the creation of hardware and software, the labeling of the machine and the installation and commissioning at customers site.
